Oronoco Township is a believer in clean water and making sure that no wastewater problems continue in the Zumbro River and Lake Zumbro that are part of their township. They are now supporting their third sewer project for an area called Sunset Bay.

Sunset Bay with 25 homes has old failing systems and small lots that are directly on the shores of Lake Zumbro. The Township supported the initial Project Priority List application and subsequently an application to the MN Public Facilities Authority for a Small Community Technical Assistance Grant. With these funds they hired Wenck to complete the Community Assessment Report as they have done with their 2 previous projects called Kings Park and Cedar Beach.

The data collection and site evaluation has all been completed and the Report is in the analysis stage. Once MPCA approval has been received, the results will be shared with the Township Board and affected community residents to select a solution to improve how their wastewater is treated.

If a community option is selected, applications will be prepared in summer 2018 for construction in 2019.
